Accepting Students
Research Interests:

Over the last 15 years, my studies have primarily focused on host-pathogen interactions between the invasive fungus C. neoformans and the mammalian immune system.Specifically, we look into the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of Cryptococcus neoformans infection and the persistence of this microbe. Our studies also seek to understand both the effects of immunomodulation on host antifungal defenses and mechanisms of immune evasion exhibited by fungi, as well as to explore pre-clinical approaches of immuno-modulatory therapies.

Host defense against fungal lung infection; Biology of lung myeloid cells including monocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages; Contribution of lung myeloid cells to lung fibrogenesis in response to airway and alveolar epithelial cell injury; Pathogenesis of deployment-related lung disease.
