Luigi Franchi, MD, PhD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Communicable Diseases, Hematology/Oncology
I’m an M.D, PhD scientist with experience in both basic academic research and pharmaceutical drug discovery. I achieved my medical degree at the University “La Sapienza” and my PhD in immunology at the University of “Tor Vergata”. After that, I trained in the laboratory of Gabriel Nunez at the University of Michigan. After that, I worked at the biotech company Lycera. I’m currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan in the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Pediatrics.
My group goal is to harness the anti-tumor potential of the immune system to develop new therapeutic approaches to treat DIPG (Diffuse Intrapontine Glioma) and other pediatric brain tumors.
